Dr. Long's Visit a Wonderful Event!

In two sessions Saturday, June 21 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, the Rev. Dr. Tom Long offered inspiring programs of wisdom and insight for clergy and lay participants. A prolific author and highly ranked preacher, Dr Long met with a group of nearly forty clergy in the afternoon to discuss how contemporary America is forcing a rethinking of the traditional narrative sermon. Dr Long's evening session titled The Church at the Four Corners envisioned four churches (St. Mark's, St Matthew's, St. Luke's and St. John's) on four corners of an intersection in an American town. These four very different churches reflect four very different aspects of the Christian faith. Attendees could identify their own churches spiritually with the ancient churches of the gospel writers.

It was a wonderful day for the church community and the Interfaith Resource Center, which raised over $3500 plus an unexpected generous donation from Dr. Long himself! Thanks to Dr. Long and all our supporters.
